A view from the top

All the news recently are abuzz with a new member of Jagodina Zoo - a lovely baby giraffe! The giraffe is called Jovanča, a name given by the journalists and based on a character from a novel “Around the world” by a famous domestic satiric playwright, Branislav Nušić.

I find the news very interesting, since Jagodina is a small city with about 35000 inhabitants. The fact that it even has a zoo, and now even a giraffe, makes the city seem very entrepreneurial and competitive (interestingly, Jagodina also has an aqua park). The zoo will be responsible for researching and protecting the unusual species of animals.

I guess another reason it got so much attention is because it’s a very human and warm story (Jovanča looks so gentle and clumsy!), the kids are already in love with him, I may even go there to take a photo. :)

There has been a funny email circular going around, titled “view of Jagodina from a plane”. And here is what it looks like:

Good luck to Jovanča in his new home!
